My husband is seriously the sweetest! He recently surprised me with tickets to Orchestra by Candlelight: A Tribute to Adele, and it was every bit as magical as it sounds.
The Surprise
When he first told me, he simply said, “We’re going to a concert. Wear a black dress.”
Now, ladies, we all know that can mean anything – from a casual sundress to a floor-length gown! So of course, I had questions.
After a little friendly interrogation, he finally admitted the theme was “sexy dressy” and that we were attending an orchestra concert. Then he described his own outfit: black dress pants, a nice black dress shirt, and dress shoes. That’s when I knew I needed to find something just right!
Finding the Perfect Little Black Dress
Here’s a secret: I REALLY dislike shopping for clothes in person. So, I went to my favorite place to shop – Amazon. Within minutes, I found a simple, elegant little black dress that felt just right for the evening.
To complete the look, I grabbed a pair of heels (also from Amazon!) that complemented the dress perfectly.

Getting Ready
Of course, we had to make a little fun of the process, so we filmed a quick transition video of us getting ready.
My husband’s entire outfit came from JCPenney – and I have to say, doesn’t he clean up nicely?
A Magical Evening
The concert itself was incredible – soft candlelight filling the Rococo Theatre, the string orchestra performing some of Adele’s most popular songs, and that rare feeling of slowing down together.
It was one of those nights that reminded me how important it is to pause, get dressed up, and do something special – just because.
If you ever get the chance to attend a Candlelight Orchestra performance, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s intimate, romantic, and truly unforgettable.
